Land Transport Operations Teamleader

What will you do?

As a Land Transport Operations Team Leader, you will take ownership of the daily transport operation while leading and developing a team of logistics professionals. You will work closely with customers, carriers, internal stakeholders, and network partners to ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective, and customer-focused transport solutions.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading day-to-day transport operations, workload planning, and escalation management.
• Monitoring shipment execution, operational risks, carrier capacity, and service performance.
• Ensuring business continuity through effective operational governance and communication.
• Coaching, motivating, and developing the Operations team.
• Managing performance, training, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession activities.
• Driving excellent customer service through proactive communication and effective exception management.
• Handling complaints, claims, and service issues while implementing corrective actions.
• Monitoring and improving operational KPIs, productivity, carrier performance, and cost efficiency.
• Preparing and leading Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
• Presenting operational performance, trends, risks, and improvement initiatives to management and customers.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, pricing activities, and margin protection.
• Ensuring compliance with legal, safety, security, quality, and internal operational requirements.
• Collaborating closely with Sales, Procurement, Customer Service, Finance, IT, Quality, and external transport partners.

You bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transport, Supply Chain, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience within transport, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Proven leadership experience, including coaching and managing operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of European road transport operations and cross-border logistics.
• Experience with carrier management, service quality management, claims handling, and cost control.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate KPI data into improvement actions.
• Experience preparing and presenting business reviews for management and customers.
• Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and escalation management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with TMS, visibility platforms, and EDI solutions is an advantage.
• Professional communication skills in English. Dutch is highly desirable, while French and/or German are considered a plus.
• A customer-focused, resilient, and results-driven approach.
